The book starts slow and moves around helping with character development once they are in place this turns into a really fast paced adventure. Really enjoyed this book it was one of those books that you don't want to put down. Action on almost every page and still had plenty of character development. A good start to a great series
Here is the story of raw courage and forthright leadership. Fast paced and frantic action abounds. Never a dull moment.
Very good story. Moved on to book 2, but got distracted. Reads well, leave hope for the future, but reveals the changes and conflicts that will come.
This story has the feeling of being there. I am so happy that the author can take a story from history and make it feel that it is set in the future. I will be happy to read more from this author.
Good series to sit down and enjoy. Lots of characters to keep track of which requires a little bit of effort on the readers part but there is a index to help. Original idea of using our past history means more involvement. There is also a painless history lesson that shows mankind will never change. Can easily get by with just keeping track of the main characters but there is nothing wrong with having to think a little to gain more insight on ourselves and the story.
A good space opera novel with lots of battle action and aliens. The story is good but the story-telling is a little disjointed, and the hand-to-hand combat scenes could use a little work.
A fairly accurate story that basically puts the Anabasis in a futuristic setting. A highly enjoyable story that while a little slow in the beginning it picks up nicely. Those with a familiarity with the original story would find the beginning boring but those that don't would welcome the information.
Nicely written with a faithful retelling of the story. Looking forward to the next book.
